The Kernow X crew and some of the Cornish branch of the Celtic League went out for a fantastic winter solstice. Rivers of fire, songs and dancing were all enjoyed by the hundreds who journeyed out with us into the cold.

to the hill fort to light the Beacon. After Pen Glaz back down the hill to the Benbow for Celtic Sounds and Dances.

COPENHAGEN CONFERENCE

Jowan the Kernow x chair had the good fortune to be asked to be on the symposium panel for the mock Copenhagen conference in Falmouth this week.

The event looked at issues within the broad context of a low-carbon economy.

It was great to have a representative at the packed event and to see so many young people getting involved in mitigating climate change.

KERNOW X LEAFLET

It finally arrived, the Kernow X Info leaflet is ready, to all who wish to have some to distribute please email or message me.

There are 500 to go around, it might be good for any campaigns ( such as Cornish Diet) or taking to give out at late night shopping events for Christmas, or why not leave some in the local pub ?

A good weekend was had by the Kernow X team at Lowender Perran

Great music and dance from all the Celtic nations, I especially enjoyed the Scottish group from the Spey valley.

And a whole load of books sold.

Bring on next year ! :D

Freshers Day at Tremough

Kernow X had a successful days campaigning at the Tremough fresher's fair.

50 Cornish Nations and about 40 membership leaflets given out. But the work goes on.... with the general elections set to be before May 2010 the build up for the MK PPCs has already started.

The Mother Party is fielding candidates in all of the 6 spots so if you want to get involved with something fun and different let me know its a great way to meet new people and pick up some new skills.

PARTI BRETON: A NEW APPROACH TO CAMPGAIN POSTERS

The Parti Breton or in Breton Strollad Breizh a social democratic and nationalist political party who are campaigning for an independent Breton Republic have been producing some great new posters.

It’s a nice to see a change to the standard material that you get, especially with a sense of humour!

The poster was sent out on new year.

It reads "there is a first time for everything" and then in the white text "don't miss your first engagment".

Mebyon Kernow - Cornish Diet Campaign

The North Cornwall branch of Mebyon Kernow - the Party for Cornwall launched the Cornish Diet Campaign at the Camelford Show on Wednesday



This is to build on the Living Communities theme, the Cornish Diet calls for 80% of all food served on Cornwall Council owned or run premises to come from Cornwall by 2012.

The campaign is being spearheaded by Joanie Willett,

the MK PPC for North Cornwall.

This would include a clear long-term development path so that growers and producers can find and access potential future markets in the public sector. Such activities need support from as many of us as possible, to increase the benefit to local traders in all areas of Cornwall.

Radical Reforms and the Constitutional Reform Bill – the need for decentralisation

Labour announced its Constitutional Reform Bill in July, the long awaited bill tabled by Jack Straw has turned out it seems to be just business as usual and a not much more than a timid tweaking of the fringes of the issues that need addressing.

After the expenses scandal causing so much damage to British politics and public trust in the system, this chance to change the flow of corruption and the iron grip of the Westminster village has been sadly squandered.

Where are the strong willed left-wing firebrands when you need one ?

If Westminster is serious about cleaning up politics it needs to decentralise, and remove the Quangos. Its not rocket science but it does involve trying to wrestle back the power from those who have become addicted to it.

So my though for the day is that :

Decentralised politics is the only solution to a more transparent political system.

EFAy UDB event with space for 1 More MK or Kernow X guest Required

The 14th summer university camp of the federation Regions & United Peoples, or in French Le 14 ème Université d’été de la fédération Régions & Peuples Solidaires is being held in Brittany this month.

The summer university camp will be held this year in Landreger / Tréguier (Coasts of Armor) it will occur on Sunday evening August 23 to on Thursdays morning August 27.

We are already sending one representative to the conference but there is still space for one more MK or Kernow X representative if someone wished to go.

So what is the UNPO:
